Exclamation Subwoofer and Amp Installation

Hi all, I have an 01 TL and I recently purchased subs and an amp from a friend. I already know that I need to purchase a 4 gauge wiring kit for that all, but I am not replacing the head unit so I need to buy a HiLo Converter to install.

I need help finding the correct type of HiLo Converter. Please post links!

Thanks so much!

or you just tap off the signal wires for the stock sub (they are already a low signal)

Thanks.

Has anyone had any problems with anything after installing a highlow converter?

LOC? None at all. Make sure you purchase a good set of 4awg power+ground wire true to their gauge. Will also need remote line, the LOC, and good set of RCA's.

knukonceptz is where I've been purchasing all my lines, RCA's, etc.

Thanks. What about any problems with taking the radio out and putting it back in? Any specific details or tips?

Please don't create threads asking the same question in both when you already have this thread.. And please read above. You were given a suggestion in post #3.

Yes but I'm talking about if anyone has ever gotten into trouble with the radio locking itself or if its a smooth transfer

, best part is that the signal wires are already run to the back (except on the 3g, where you have to run them from the front, but still nice because it is already next to the rocker panel, so it's just a straight shot back)

radio locking is the power being lost to the radio, many people have had that issue when the battery gets disconnected

and smooth transfer , the stock sub is STOCK, and was designed into the audio system from the start

Thanks. I've decided that I'm going to tap off the signals from the stock sub to my subs

if you just tap into the stock sub wires for the aftermarket subs, will there be any problem with either one not getting enough power?

do you mean POWER or SIGNAL wise? cause if power wise, no way in hell the stock wiring is going to support an aftermarket amp, let alone both

if you mean signal wise WHY? i took out my piece of shit stock, so i could here my aftermarket one better (but it might be able to run both IDK, but they might be quieter then if you just ran one though, due to the signal not being as strong with just one)

if the rca signal cables are run over the middle, against the floor? maybe. insulate them. remember you get a whine when one improperly runs the rca and power cables together..signal to noise ratio.

the best insulation is separation/distance

that is why you run the power cable down the door jamb, then the RCA cable down the transmission/exhaust tunnel (just like how the factory antenna is); very little actually crosses and even runs along side of the cables that way
