Which to you guys and gals are the best sub and amp setup to put in a 1998 acua cl? Nothing over 2000 dollars. Thanks/.

 

i like the kicker solo-baric's the most. Thier like between $200-300 each speaker.

 

If you want under $2000 you have a wide range of choices, as only 21" and above speakers are over that mark.
Personally I'd go with a Xtant 1001X and 2 Eclipse Aluminum 12's.
Just my opinion for under $2000. This does not include install and if my opinion changes I will notify you.

I'll agree with the Eclipse Aluminums. That's what I went with myself. But I'd say save a little money and get a JBL BP1200.1 The JBL can be had for $379 every day on Ebay from Scala1 who is highly recommended on almost every car audio board around. 1200w x 1 into either 2 or 1 ohm. Use the money you save to get real speakers for the car.

 

be careful of aluminum subs...i used to have the diamond audio subs which are made of aluminums just like the eclipse...they sound nice and the different from the other materials...but they tend to have dent and dings on the subs because when the magnet heats up...the cone gets warm and expands...then when it cools off the cone changes shape a little bit...depending on how hard you play them also...but almost all the time aluminum will dent...i've even asked diamond audio and thats just the material they are made with so you have to deal with the dings that come along with it....

 

orion is good , jl's w3 series is good, cyrstal cmps are baddass, diamond audio, idq's, eclipse(but pricey) are some choices for subs to choose from...for amps whatever brand they are you will want to try to get a class D monoblock amp which is made solely to power your subs...but also keep in mind if you add just subs to your stock headunit...your mids and highs will drain and the sound will be drowned out from the subs...it will sound a lot clearer once you change the headunit and inside speakers with it...and if you add another amp for the insides it will sound even cleaner....but if you dont have the money just do one step at a time...but if you do all that you will have a sweet sounding system
