Sub Question
Sub Question
Well, I got another Kicker 10L7 added to my system. So now I have a pair of 10L7's powered by a JL 500/1 at a final load of 4 ohms. Both subs are in their own sealed box. My thought is, did I really gain anything by doing this. It sure does not sound like more bass. If my numbers are correct, I did have 500 watts running into 1 sub. So now, I have 2 subs, which should add 3 dB but, since the power is now 250 per sub, I drop 3 dB. This sounds like the same amount of bass and power that I had with only one sub. I thought this would be the case but, I thought with more cone area, there would be more bass. The way it sounds to me is about the same with one sub as with two. Any ideas. Adding more power is not an option but, I have been thinking about ditching the 2 subs and getting a single IDMAX or JL 10 or 12W7.
Subs are weird. To make a L7 10 performance optimal they need atleast 500-600 watts each, I kinda was dazed to last week when u said u where gettin another L7 I thought u were adding another amp to. Get one JL w6v2. Now that should be plenty.
I just remembered, awhile back my friend hit 149db with one 12 solobaric and 1100 watt amp. IT wasnt enough so he added a second L7 and 2nd 1100 watt amp. He hit a 150db. Sound is so damn hard to understand. And ryan double everything and he hit 1 db more.
Thanks everyone for their thoughts. I really just do not know what to do. For the short term, I am going to keep the Kickers. I might try to find something that is more effeceint and handles less power. I know the IDQ series only needs around 250 per sub. Maybe a pair of those. I would like to go with a JL but, I would be underpowering them as well.
Decisions, Decisions. But hey, that is what it is all about.

Well, we are back to the drawing board again. My new plan, for this week anyway, hehe, is to use only one L7. I took the stock sub out and will have the sub facing upwards thru the hole left. I am going to make a large false floor type for the sub to sit on right up against the seats. Then, make another board to cover the sub and use to mount the amps. When it is finished, you will not even see the sub, just the 2 JL amps and a Cap right in between the amps. After some A/B testing this weekend, I decided with the 500 watts that 2 subs or 1 sound about the same.
Thats a nice idea and I was thinking about the same thing when I got my hmmm 4th system, It was One type R 12 and Fosgate punch 400s and 300x. I was gonna have the amp rack in the front and sub facing up. But after much research a sub always sounds best furthest from you. When I had my sub in the corner of the trunk(the idea I got from Miwa) I got the best sounding bass like that.
