sub and plexiglass question

I want to design a system just like this:

http://www.alphaaudio.com/installs/ImpalaSS.html

except with black carpet, flush trunk floor with plexiglass with amps under it, and acura symbol instead of the impala.

But does covering the front of the subs with a panel with plexiglass affect the quality of sound?

The box i am using is sealed box and the plexiglass will just be sitting in front of the subs.

Yes, covering the sub with anything can change the sound or SPL.

what about mounting the subs on plexiglass with a MDF enclosure like this?

http://www.carstereo.com/installs/ph...w=1&maxrows=12

Also, i want to make my trunk usable so should i worry about stuff( shoes, food, etc) hitting the subs? could it possibly damage the subs?

Seems to me from those pics that the subs are sealed off from the trunk but essentially fire thu the rear deck, it's basically as if they are in the cabin, so it should sound pretty damn good. But, just putting plexiglass over the sub would not be a good idea if you were to seal the plexiglass to the enclosure.

then that would basically be a band pass right?

i am just planning to use the plexiglass to act as a loading board. I heard that this helps reduce trunk noise by the sound bouncing off the plexiglass instead of the trunk.

well it also depends on what subs you're using. some subs sound better in a sealed box and some sound better in a band pass. but it wouldnt be a good idea to cover it in plexiglass as all of the other guys have said. if you're looking to stop noise use dynomat.

That's a bandpass to the rear deck
