Sub and Box in 03 TL

Im not wanting anything super loud, just wanting some more bass than what our stock Bose delivers. Whats the best size/brand sub to put in and not take up a lot of room? What kind of box would I want? Custom box? Any ideas or info would be enjoyed. Also, what is it called that I need to have hooked up to the headunit to connect a sub to it? I cant remember what its called. As you can tell Im not experienced in the world of car audio. Just trying to improve bass response a bit. One more thing, is it best to disconnect the stock sub when you add one? Or does it not matter that much?

Welcome

First off, what is your budget? You made pretty clear, you just want something more than what the stock system gives you. Also, are you looking to upgrade the whole system down the road, or are you quite content w/the stock bose system except the bass? What most people do is take the signal from the stock sub amplifier, which is behind the back seat on the passengers side, and hook that into a Line-Output-Converter whicn then connects to the aftermarket amplifier.

Price really isnt a concearn, just wanting something to give more bass than what is given with the stock set up. How hard is it to run the output from the stock amp to an aftermarket one? Could I do it myself? Any instrustions on how to do it?

YEah there is a diagram floatin around here somewhere, its really pretty simple. Hardest part would be removing the back seat, and running the power wire from the battery to the trunk. I'd suggest a small amplifier with a 10" sub in a sealed box. I think that would make a difference. Also, i disconnected the stock sub.

Hey thanks for your info. Any idea how much they would charge at a car audio place to do that for me?(Just hooking up and running the wires, i could connect everythign to ampa nd sub myself) Dont know if i want to be messing around with running the power wire that much.

Alright, just wait for the pro's to respond on here as far as brand and what not you should go with, but i mean by the looks of things, you aren't an extreme audiophile, just someone that wants some thing better than stock, so we'll get you on the right track
