Question Sub advise

Ok i'm thinking of switching my subs over from Boston Pro 10's to either Perfect 10's from infinity or JL 10W3's. I want the most accurately loud boom...any ideas??

Perfects, JLs...they both good....ALUMAPRO is my choice. How do you like your CDT's? I am thinking about adding a 6.5 component set from them.

Question

Just wondering, what makes Alumapro woofers so good?

Ever heard an alumapro sub play? If not, find someone who has one and listen to it. Clear, sharp, defined bass...no distortion, excellent frequency response. These are metal cone subs and depending upon which version you choose (the alchemy or alusonic and the new M16) you get a ferrofluid cooled sub with polymer surrounds, custom designed spiders which minimize/eliminate disortion, excursion (especially on the alusonic series) is excellent, they require very small amount of air space and can handle a lot more power then they are even rated at. Hows that?

BA PRO 10's? Alumapro makes an incredible sub (the alchamy 12 is unbeatable at the price) but I doubt that giving up your BA's for anything else (in the same size and price range) is going to change your sound much. Which tube driver amps do you have? While tube amps arguably provide a much warmer midrange sound, their high frequency distortion and lack of power in heavy transients have haunted the design for years. The only way around this is to put what initially appears to be an obnoxious amount of power on your subs, so that the amplifiers have plenty of reserve for heavy transients. This proves to be a financial and installation burden which most people don't want to undertake. Try to borrow a solid class A/B amp and audition that on your subs and see what you think. All that being said, please note:
1. I am an Alumapro dealer
2. I am not a BA dealer
3. I just love music and car
audio!

Thumbs up

I love my CDT's they are great. For the money i'd recomend them. I really want to get Focal Utopia's when the stock market rebounds.

If you insist on changing subs then go all the way with the FOCAL 27WX. By the way, I have a set of the 33KX that I will sell very cheap (yellow kevlar cone doesn't match the grey utopia at all, but an awesome speaker).

Shawn, did you ever try pointing the subs toward the rear of the car instead of up and then opening the armrest (or folding down one side of the seat, whichever is in the CL)?

Cool

Originally I had it with the Subs firing rearward but the edge of the box actually touched the NAV system DVD drive and I was worried about the vibration affecting it.

It sounds the same with them facing upward.

I definitely don’t need any additional Bass; there is WAAAAYYY too much already.
The KICKER AMP is not even breaking a sweat.

Touching or not, I'm sure that DVD is getting shaken to bits.

Yes, it gets a pounding along with the whole ass end of the car but, I haven't had a problem with it yet.

The way it was before, the box was actually wedged right up against the frame of the DVD drive.
I think they built it about 1/2 inch too wide.
