StreetEffectz Stereo Kit

I was hoping someone from Streeteffectz would tell us what they plan to do with their kit now that Metra has one out. Will you still be making one?? I think alot of people would like to know.

We will still make yours, or buy the Metra kit for you, but other than that, no, it wouldn't make sense to continue the project. We will, however, make the kits for custom applications like monitor housing, dual single din, etc.

Ron,
Were you able to get a bracket made for the faceplate? I've read in another post that someone was scheduled to bring their TL so you could make it. If so, how much longer do you expect it will take to make the kits?

Hey Master-G...... Ron and StreetEffectz has decided to abandon the TL kit. With Metra releasing their kit, Ron just could not compete. He has sent my radio back to me and I am waiting upon its arrival. Can't really blame them for that. Although, they probably still could make the kits and sell a few for people for want Double Din or Single Din on the bottom rather than top or middle.

Thanks for the info AcuraX2, but I thought that Street was going to still make kits for 2 single din and other unique configurations. Since the Metra kit only allows a single din unit to be installed, there's definitely a market for other types of kits. What do you think, Ron?

It would seem there could have been a market for his kit since i understand the Metra kit looses the silly (but space filling) over-radio stash tray. As many of you may have seen the kit I made for my TL a while back, I have a single DIN centered where the old head was, the burl trim face panel I made matches to the burl dash trim kit I have, plus I still have the stash pocket over the head. Its actually pretty easy to do and i used the factory head unit brackets to boot. I dont have the time or desire to mass produce a facekit, but then again i have been retired from car professional audio for 10 years (except for my own car).

I am sure the Metra kit will just be a black ABS panel. Rather Ho-Hum looking IMHO. Ron took a very long time to devise a kit or he coulda sold zillions of them a year ago before Metra had anything to the market. And even now he'd still get residual sales from people who want something better than what Metra will offer. I have installed tons of radios with Metra and Scoche dash kits in my day and they all look like aftermarket installs because the kits dont really look stock. Ron coulda come out with a stock-looking solution for the purists.

i totally agress 2002acuratl... i personally hate the way that metra dash kits look... but for most people they look at price and since the metra kit is $15 dollars and ron wanted $100 dollars people are going to tend to lean in the direction of the cheaper kit... even though rons kits would have probably been superior in quality and factory match... but like you i am making my faceplate out of the burlwood to match the stock wood look....
