Lightbulb stock nav relocation a success...!!!!!!

yes, ya'll know ive been working on this and most of ya'll thought i was crazy...then there was the problem w/the antenna wire being waaay too short. after searching for a comparable extension to no avail, i decided to look at extending the coax myself. not knowing what exact coax to use, and not being able to find anything online aobut this coax(the sheath didnt have any RG info on it) i decided to hit some computer stores here in austin. I walked into altex and guess what i saw...spools of differrent types of wire, including about 10 different types of coax...so i guessed, simply by looking at the one closest to being as thin as the antenna coax. well, it was only $0.28/ft, so i bought 9 feet and came home...but i started having second thoughts so i went online again and cked what some aftermarket gps antenna coax is made of and guess what...i picked correctly...RG-174U is what they were all using....so i went ahead and got to work. in order to make the outer weaved shielding have good contact, i used aluminum foil. for the inner wire, i used a little solder and then used electrical tape and heat shrink to seal it off from the outer foil wire.

i crossed my fingers and went outside in the freezing cold to hook it up...turned the car on and ohhh noooooooooooo. no signal. im so impatient cause 30 seconds later...we had a strong signal...!!!!

so i went ahead and took the time to take off the passenger seat and routed and zip tied the coax wire neatly and out of harms way. i will be heading out to houston tomorrow to show any nay sayers who may meet up w/me fri night at www.houstonraceway.com track or sat night at westheimer/wilcrest parking lot...!!!

Hey systek, glad to hear you solved the GPS antenna problem! Where did you end up putting the antenna?

for now, back where it belongs...but if it gets moved, probably use some part of the rear deck area since the signal has been strongest there

knowing some of my forum bro's like urself would be searching for this part, i asked them if they had anymore in stock....they dont..i got the last one...sorry

i did a search on yahoo.com and google.com on avc rgb1 and found alot of places that sell it, since this was the cheapest i found and they are located here in texas, i gave them a try and went ahead and ordered it.

here are some links to other online retailers who are selling it, but i never confirmed if they are in stock or not but i hope it helps:
