Stock Cd Player Problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey guys

my stock cd player is giving me errors on my burned cds...

i have been using the same type of cd (maxwell 700MB) the whole time since i bought my car and the cds used to play perfectly but now the player wont' read the couple of tracks at the end of the cd.. ie. track 6, 17, 18, 19 etc..

i brought it to the dealer and they just told me that acura cd players r not meant for burned cds.. only real cds... they told me to duplicate the problem with a real cd then they can do something about it.. otherwise they cant.

wat shoudl i do? I NEED HELP BIG TIME!!

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
:unstable:

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Stock Cd Player Problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I brought my car into the dealer a couple of weeks ago to replace the stock in dash stock head unit. my cd's were not reading and they were all stuck in there.. wouldn't come out. They told me they were having problems with the mdx and tsx head units. they had to pull the deck out of another tsx cause there were none available throughout canada. just try a different brand CD when burning. I know what your feelin and how frustrated you are...me too.....they told me not to use anymore burnt CD's, but faaaak it.

I've been using TDK, 700MB, 80 min.,up to 32X CD-R, and have had no problems at all. I've burned maybe 25 copies of various CDs so I can keep em' in my car. Every single one works.

Are you just copying CDs or are you making a compilation from many different sources? If you are making a compilation than make sure you close out the session before you try to play the CD.

i doubt if the player will read the disc at all if the cd wasn't closed. Seriously though, your best bet is to use a different brand of cd. Over the years, i've noticed that i haven't had much luck with basf and maxell discs -- very flakey as you've found out.

The best ones are generally the ones made by Taiyo Yuden (a lot of TDK, Sony, Fuji and Mitsui discs come from them)

On a related note, I've found the best DVD's are made by Ritek.

that kinda scares me... on my 10 hour roadtrip this weekend, my cd player also stopped reading the last few tracks on my burned cds. i would get silence for a few seconds, then the 'disc' error.

I dont know whats up with your burned cd's, I have two cases of burned cds and havent had a problem yet. Okay wait one problem but that was because the disc was scratched to shit. One thing I have noticed is if your car is having problems reading your burned discs, try burning at a slower speed.

Whad up KLO...

hell yeah. still using burnt CD's. memorex 700mb burnt at 4x, using nero as well. I think what might have contributed to the CD head unit malfunction before was using older burnt CD's that have been banged up a bit. I haven't had any problems since only using the new burnt ones. good luck....

That sucks. It's possible that you got a defective drive.

Here are a couple of suggestions for anyone burning a CD for their TSX:

Do Use high quality CD-Rs. I use Fujifilm. Very good stuff.
Use lower recording speed. Audio Cds have less error correction than data CDs, so lower speed keeps the errors down, and less work for the error-correcting hardware in the TSX CD drive. I burn at 16X.

Don't use labels..ever! I just use a Sharpie for all my labeling

Keep your CD-Rs dust-free and scratch-free, and fingerprints-free.

Don't park your car under the burning sun with CD-Rs inside. If you have to park under the heat for a while, remove the CD-Rs. If you come into a hot car with very hot CD-Rs don't put them into the drive, and remove them from the drive if they have been baking!

Don't put a CD into the drive that has been dipped in liquids. Better to just toss it and burn a new one. Don't risk it, even if it's dried up.

Or better yet..get an mp3 player. I use my Ipod in my car. no problems with it
