Stock bose deck w/ aftermarket speakers?

Mine was an 01 cl-s... I hooked it up, but I think my amp was fried because my front speakers were buzzing and hissing like crazy. Either that or some wiring was screwed up.
I didn't have time to mess around so I just dropped in a new kenwood deck and ran it straight to the speakers, bypassing all the factory wiring. I sold the car on Tuesday.
Eldude... any recommendations for stock replacements on an s2k? 6.5" components, either powered by an Alpine deck or a very small (physical size) 2 channel. I'd like to avoid putting in a sub, what would you suggest when they are the sole speakers?

Well, as good as you can afford with a small amp is my reccomendation, and with as solid a spacer system as you can to maximaze bass response.
If the new spacer ring mates up to the back of the door panel like the factory speaker frame does, you get lots better bass. I would use an amp like the PPI or the DLS that can filter out the subbass that 6"s won't play anyway (below 40 or so), and I know the DLS UP6 with a 2" voice coil would fit w/o cutting due to its small magnet. The spacer would get replaced with a ring, that's all.
But best resulst are obtained with an 8" in a small fiberglas box in the trunk.

I'd like to avoid using much of the already limited space in the trunk, but yeah maybe I do need to get an 8" back there. I think I've asked you this before, but can I buy these speakers/amps from you?
