Honda help
Hi. New to the forum here, and looking for some help for my Honda. Let me give a little history so you'll know what I'm trying to do.
I have a 1989 Honda Accord LXi which came with a stock AM/FM/Cassette head unit. That year, there was also a special editon (SEi) Accord that came with same type head unit, but also had steering wheel stereo controls (SWSC). I am rebuilding my car, and have obtained an SEi steering wheel with control buttons, and wire to the dash connector.
Now, what I am wanting to do is upgrade the stereo to a stock (OEM) unit that has a CD player, and will allow me to use the SWSC. Honda did not make any units during the nineties that used SWSC it seems, but I beieve the Acura TL did (?). From what I've seen on Ebay, the '95-'98 TL had a AM/FM/Cassette/CD unit that has the same plugs in the rear as my unit (large white main connector and smaller, 5-pin blue connector).
I am pretty sure that the main white connector is the same as mine, but what I need to find out is if the blue, 5-pin connector is where the SWSC plugs in, and which pins in that connector do what?
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I wanted to be very clear about what I'm trying to do and to find out.
Thanks in advance,
Rob.

No, he wants Acura info... I wish I had that but I don't...
Try the TL discussion forum and ask for someone with the Helms manual for that year (put it in the title...) maybe they can scan the pages for ya...

Hey, thanks for all the replies, even the not so helpful one
. LOL.
Actually, now that I'm researching even more, I'm begining to think that just about any radio can work in any car, as long as I get the wiring straight. I mean, they all use the same basics; constant power, switched power, ground, and speakers, right? With the wiring diagrams, I can rig up my own harness connector, so that is no problem either. Still, I am left with the problem of finding out if the SWSC will be compatible.
Elduderino (cool name by the way), I'll try your advice and post in the TL section. What I need to find out is what the different resistances are for the TL SWSC, and see it they are the same as mine. Wow, wouldn't that be nice!
ps Beetroot, how do I post a pic on here?
