SRS failure due to cell phone usage?

Took the CL in for an oil change and some minor warranty work including an SRS light. The service technician told me that cell phones have been known to cause SRS failures. Has anyone else had this problem? They have to overnight a part for it so I'm stuck with a RSX loaner till Monday. The RSX isn't a bad ride, but it makes me realize what a nice car the CL is. I almost bought an RSX Type S when I was shopping for cars, but I'm glad I went with the room and comfort of the CL.

Whatever. I would like to step out back with the tech on his break and burn one with him.

So you're worried that Acura might void the SRS warranty because of cell phone usage?

that happened to me back before christmas. they said that it was a common problem. they never said that they would void the warranty at all, and they shouldent, I think its a manafacturing defect. im just sure now not to leave my cell phone on and put it on my seat. i just keep it in my coat pocket or in the middle by the seat heaters.

I'm not doubting that it could be the problem. I'm just saying no one should have to even worry about using their cell phone in the car. If Acura knows it's some kind of a defect, it's their responsibility to either correct the problem or just keep replacing the parts whenever they fail, all under warranty of course.

Every Sprint phone is certified by the FCC.

Check with the FCC to see if they certify phones that interfere with automobile airbags.

Edit: I correct this to read that we require our phone manufacturers to get FCC approval. Remove your phone battery, on the label, find the FCC ID.

Not at all. It's going to be under warranty. I'm just surprised a car would be manufactured these days that would have problems with cell phone usage.

It's still in the shop. Parts came in today and they just have to put the seat back into the car. I'll turn the RSX in tomorrow.

BTW 37000 miles and the brake pads are still ok. I though for sure they would be just about due for replacement.

Nokia 8390 and it's got an FCC ID, I don't think they could sell it if it didn't. I've been using it in the car for over a year and I've never had any problems up to now.
