Speakers for 2006 TSX

Hey,

I am going to replace the speakers at least in my TSX, and maybe the amp as well. I want to leave the head unit, since it is nicely integrated with the stering wheel and bluetooth.

I went to a couple of stereo places today.

2 of them said to keep the stock 6x9's - as they are only providing bass ... nothing else - and if anything, replace them with a subwoofer

In replacing the tweeters and the door speakers I had the following recommended:

Eclipse Point Source SP6500
Morel Dotech Ovation
Boston Acoustics SLR or SX or S

The Eclipse speakers did not seem to require an additional amp... but the other 2 - an amp is suggested, although they indicated you could use them without the amp.

Anyone have any exepriences with these speakers? With or without amp?

Thx,
Larry

The shops you visited sound less than skilled.

There are many recommendations on this forum about this... have you searched yet? Read the master thread list?

Definitely replace the 6x9s. It does "just" produce bass, but it's kind of sloppy and boomy.

Whether or not you get a sub depends on how loud (and low) you need the bass to be. You can get smoother (more controlled, less boomy) and maybe even slightly deeper bass with aftermarket 6x9 speakers.

(I've got the Avincar set that Elduderino sells.)
