Speaker suggestion

I have been looking at speakers and am pretty confused. I need a pair of 5.25" up front and a pair of 6.5" in the rear, I want a two way coaxial for each location(no 3 or 4 ways.) I don't like metal dome tweeter and would strongly prefer silk, I do not want external crossovers but if I had to I would. They will be powered by a JL audio e4300 4 channel amplifier, the source will be an iPod direct to the amp. It will be going in a Lotus Elise and I know due to speaker location it will never sound "great" I just want something that will play loud enough to hear and not sound like crap. I am leaning towards Alpine Type S speakers at all 4 corners but one of my friends who has worked at a car stereo shop for many years doesn't recommend them and is urging me to get JL audio VR coaxials, which cost more and have poor freq. response. What do you guys think?

1. There is no budget, but I can't see spending a lot on something I know isn't going to sound good, the car has horrible speaker locations and is far from optimal for sound reproduction. I just want something that will sound OK at moderate volume with the top off, and as much bass as one can expect from 5.25" and 6.5" speakers
2. I have a JL e4300 which is rated for around 90wpc into 4 ohms, it is a 4 channel amp.
3. That's not a concern

I like the rainbow SL coaxials, but components just won't work well in this car, I'm not trophy hunting here, I just want a good quality speaker that can play moderate volumes with the best possible bass, there will be no sub in the car.
