Exclamation speaker "spacer" confusion...HELP

Hey guys...been reading the various posts on the board on the infamous speaker spacers that we need to make in order to install new speakers. I am confused because people are giving different thicknesses of the spacer. I'm sure that this is because not all speakers are the same size, but I don't think they could be THAT different.

Ok, I hace Focal 165Ks for the front and Focal 165HCs for the rear. Now...If I wanted to not even use the stock plastic baskets, what thickness spacer should I make for the front and rear?

I would greatly appreciate any help from anyone. Thanx

What you are seeing differnet thickness because not all speakers have the same mounting depth so the size depends on how much mounting depth your speakers require. 165K's will need a thicker spacer.

thanx valuetl.

I mentioned the varying thickness aspect in the original post. I am sure others have Focal 165Ks in their Tls. So if those guys/gals can post information that would help immensely.

There are these spacers at partsexpress.com made by metra. They give 1" of space. Do you think they would suffice?

Actually I seriously doubt many have Focal 165Ks in their TLs. In fact I have only heard of two people who have Focal anything in their TLs. All you have to do to find out the size spacer you need is take the mounting depth of your speaker, and subtract the stock mounting depth. There ya go...done.
