Speaker size?

Hello all:

I am planning to upgrade factory speaker. Does anyone know the correct size will fit into the side door speaker. I read the TL car brochure and it is stated a 6.5" size and read the forum claimed 5.25" ? I have not attemped to removed door panel to verified this yet. Can someone here kindly clarify what is actual size is.
BTW, my is a 2K3 TLS WDP with Navi system.

Thanks in advance

Drcookie:

Thanks for a quick and expert response. You the men Drcookie.

Will look into it to have the factory speaker pull out and possibly replace with an 6.5" Pioneer triax.

I have a used Rockford Fosgate 15W per channel High current Amp, and planned to disconnect the front speaker and install a line level converter, then added an Amp that feed those new speaker.
What do you guys thinks? Is it worth it?
Current system sound is adequate, however I want a little bit more punch.

Please advice

OK 6.5 matches what I was told. Anyone know the maximum depth in inches of the speakers? Anyone have a line on a wiring diagram? Crutchfield has not measured this car so a quick connector is not available from them.

I'm still trying to figure out this system, like how to attach a photo and a signiture. I have a Black TL-S with Nav (2002)

it is 5.25 stock, but since is such a shallow mounting depth, the use of a bezel would be required, so you can easily use a 6.5 if you would like.

Most 6.5 will not fit in the 2000 without a spacer and slight modification. The hole is too small and the depth is only like 2". I put the Diamond M661 in the front doors and made a spacer and only had to trim the bottom edge of the hole for the wire terminal block on the mid.

AcuraX2, where do you get these spacers from?

what about a speaker that has a mounting depth of 2 1/16th" ? Will those fit without making any mods? THe polk db650 are listed as 2" top mount depth..

I made my spacers out of aluminum. That Polk would be really close to fitting with no mods. I think you would be alright with the depth but, not sure about the hole size. You may have to do some trimming to get it to fit properly.

How about some brand/model numbers of some 2way or 3way speakers that fit in the doors of an 02 TL? Tha way I can know what fits and look for similar sizes.

Thanks
