spacers for 6.5 speakers
hey, i'm looking to install infinity perfect 6.5 speakers to my first gen, but there seems to be a fitment issue since the mounting depth is too big, are there any spacers that i can buy to make the install go easier without having to custom fabricate some since i don't really have the resources to do so
I have a '99 CL with the Bose system, so yours might be different, but here's what I did to fit my 6.5" CDT Audio components. First I unscrewed the baffle that holds the speaker in place. Once you have this baffle out of the door unscrew the speaker and take it out. When you place your new speakers into the baffle it stops once it hits the back part. What I did was cut that back part of the baffle out with some snippers and then smoothed it out with a razor blade. I also took the rubber piece off of the speaker magnet. This gave me enough room to fir the speaker in the baffle and bolt the baffle back into the door, without using any spacers.

ahh i have a 99 3.0 too, I'm already prepared to cut the baffle back off, though i hear it will be hard to get my infinity 6.1's in since its depth is much larger, do u know how deep your speakers are? the kappas are 2 5/8 moutning depth
Can you tell me the total depth of the baffle? I just got Polk MOMO MM6's and I am trything to figure out the max depth I have to work with. Also could you tell me how for it is from the front of the baffle to the door panel?
I put in CDT Audio components and their mounting depth
was 2 7/8". With the back of the baffle cut out and the rubber piece taken off the speaker magnet the speakers fit perfectly, with a tiny amount of room left. You should be able to fit your kappas.
Hope this helps.
