Possible mods to the Navi via DVD

I just had this idea- the Navi DVD is easily removable and quite a few of us must have DVD-burners, so wouldn't it be possible to copy the DVD, make some mods to it and then burn the new copy onto a DVD-R?
Now I'm not talking about anything major here, but it should certainly be possible to, say, make a new skin (ala winamp) or at least have a custom startup graphic and maybe even some sounds.
Anyone experiment with this?

There was another thread regarding the copying the navi dvd. Someone had said the dvd is a dual layer dvd and that the burners that are available now don't have the same capacity as dual layer discs.

That's a shame if it's true - but it won't be too long until they start releasing DVD burners that can do dual layer (or at least can store past the 4.7GB limit now).
