ok check it out i have a 300 e BENZ and i want to hook it up with a sound system and i only really have like 600 to spend what should i get i need some help on this one......
Does it still have the Becker POS in it?
You're not going to be able to buy a bad ass system for 600 bucks. I would recommend doing things in stages, just adding to it as you get more disposable income.
I'd start with replacing the speakers. Buy a nice set of separates for the front, you should be able to find a decent pair for 250. This will make a big difference in the sound quality with the factory deck.
Then replace the backs with a good set of 2 or 3 way speakers, whatever size will fit in the factory holes. Maybe 150 for a decent set of speakers.
Then I'd pocket the 200 bucks and wait until you save up another 200... and then replace the factory deck. You should be able to find a new heaunit that suits your taste for under 400.
After that, then start thinking about adding amps and a sub...
If you're like me, you will regret trying to do this 'as cheap as possible'. Make the investment in good quality components, even if it takes a year (or more) to get the system up to snuff. Keep in mind that if you do this right, it will be an investment that will transfer car to car for a long time.
I've got top of the line components that I bought 12 years ago that will still hang with anything made today. Well worth the premium I paid for them way back when.

Take your time
I have a Pioneer DEH-4100 HU with Infinity Kappa speakers (front 6.5" and rears 6x9). I used these for a year and they are mint.
$250 total and I will ship.
Let me know if you want them..
