there are some products like fatmat, cascade, and i think rockford fosgate makes something called roadkill. I haven't personally used them but when my licenseplate rattled, i just stuffed some foam b/w the plate and then bumper, it did the job

Look, before you buy ANYTHING you need to determine what the source of the noise is.

Is it the license plate? Any foam sheet or weatherstripping can do the job. Play the system, get out, and press on the plate hard. Does the rattle stop?

Is it the trunk lid rattling? Perhaps tightening the hasp or getting a new seal would make a difference. While the system plays, press down onthe trunk lid hard (not on any spoiler, of course). Does the noise stop?

That's 90% or more of all trunk bass noise right there. Damping your side panels or trunk lid most of the time won't do a damned thing for those two... and those two don't require much techy science-type products.

Cascade is great stuff. Sticks really well and has no petroleum smell. My trunk, trunk lid, parcel shelf, 4 doors, and rear seat bottom are done with it.

I've used Cascade, Dynamat Extreme and Fatmat. All seem to work ok. Cascade takes a while longer to install since you need a heat gun. The little bit of Fatmat I've used kinda smells. Maybe that's why I used a little. Dynamat is great, just expensive. My vote is for Cascade since it works and it's cheap.

[QUOTE=NSXNEXT]Cascade is great stuff. Sticks really well and has no petroleum smell. My trunk, trunk lid, parcel shelf, 4 doors, and rear seat bottom are done with it.

How many square feet did you use?

I also found an article on another forum about e-dead:

"I spent all day yesterday putting 120 square feet of eDead in my truck ('84 4runner) yesterday. I took everything out of the truck and did the floors, walls, and doors. I didnt do the roof b/c it's a removable fiberglass top. I was able to put in two layers on the floor in front and the inner firewall, also put two layers on outer door skin and one on inner door skin.
I also put about 90 square feet of 8 lb carpet padding in. Did the floors and used spray adhesive to put it on top of the edead on the side walls, and i took the leftover and rolled it up and stuffed it down the sides too.
Overall it made a big difference. It's a 20 year old truck with mud tires, and before this when I would drive down the road, especially the highway, I couldnt even hear myself think. There is very little road noise now and the doors are solid as a rock.
However, the engine noise is still pretty loud. I expected that though b/c i could only go up a little ways on the inner firewall before the dash and steering column got in the way. I think it would help a lot if I got a hoodliner also, b/c it currently has nothing! I think Dynamat makes one, but it's like $70.

Overall, it was worth my 14 hours of time and $150. Road noise is MUCH less than before, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it helps with cooling in the summer heat here in Florida. A few things i learned along the way:

-use smaller sections where there are a lot of contours to reduce air bubbles

-peel off the backing of only the top of your section that you are working with, attach that, and then work the backing off as you attach the rest. i found that when i peeled off the whole thing that it stuck to everything and itself.

-watch out, it's sharp! I cut myself a couple times pressing down the edges. kind of like a paper cut, doesnt happen often, but it hurts when it does!

-make sure that you mark where important holes for your bolts for your seats, etc. i also found that it is better to cut out the pieces of eDead over these holes shortly after you lay it down b/c it seems like the bond gets stonger after even an hour or so, makes it harder to peel off the small piece that you cut out.

anyways, just thought i would share my experience with the eDead. Good stuff. Easy to apply and sticks well."

When you stop that one you find about 16 others.. Always sux.. End up dynamating the whole car anyways..

TIP: For 2nd Gen CL/TL's stuffing polyfil into the spoiler helps alot..

-Remove the 2 screws in the LED. Pull out the LED and start stuffing the polyfil in using a long thin object so you can stuff the polyfil deep inside the spoiler.

Must be a TL thing : )

I was simply referring to the fact that license plates and trunk latch adjustment have taken care of the majority of rattles in my experience, with dedening the trunk lid coming in third.

The rear deck helps IF there are speakers in it, and putting foam in between the deck trim and the metal helps in TSXs in my experience as well.

I put some Cascade V-MAX inside the front doors of my CR-V today (I was replacing the 5-year-old MB Quarts). V-MAX is new to me - it's butylene rubber with a black aluminum sheet attached to it. A small box has 5-1/4 S.F., and I used less than one of those in my 2 front doors (as I've said before, I am NOT a fan of mass coverage.)

Definite huge difference. I put two good-sized pieces on the inside of the outer door, and three smaller trimmed pieces on the inside of the metal door skin under the water barrier.

No holes were covered, no bolts were covered. Process took about 1/2 hour per door.

Door sounds very different when I close it. Interior seems quieter. Midbass from the door is definitely better and I expected it to be the same, but not noticeably better.

I know this may look biased because I sell this stuff. (the long-timers like joerockt remember that I was a fan before I was a dealer : )

I only sell it because I used various CAE products and liked them a lot (except the small spray cans - never worked well for me.) This new VMAX is the bomb, I plan on doing a lot more in the CR-V since it looks like I have to keep it for a while as the second car, and now that I know how well it works, I might use it on the R deck and R doors of the TSX (my wife commented that the TL loander was quieter and zipper, so here goes V-MAX and Hondata : )

If you need some killer damping material, I think you can buy it at Parts Express (if you don't want to buy if from me : ) Since it is very light, I would think it's a good choice for keeping overall weight down.

Sweet work. What was the road noise like before and after?
