Sound deadener

Can you please share your experiences with the use of sound deadeners(Cascade, Dynamat, RAAMmat, etc). Please tell what type of difference it made with keeping interior noise in,as well as exterior noise out.

Thanks

hey decky243!

I have cascade in the car,, i have about 2 shop packs of the thing and i'm almost finished with completely covering my whole car: from the floor bed , roof, pillars, doors and to the trunk! it really helps keep the road noise out and the sound in,,, you can barely hear my sub hitting from the outside. now the only thing is to solve my rattling from my interior ,,, good luck in choosing what you want!

oh,,, and cascade smells a lot better,,,it's made of vinyl not tar and asphalt like dynamat

I placed an order for a couple of rolls of RaamMat 60 this weekend. I will let you know what I think after I have worked with it.

A lot of people also recommend Peel and Seal which can be found at many homecenter stores around the country such as Home Depot and Lowes. Look in the roofing supplies section.

ArchAcuraTL,

I am pretty sure it is an asphalt-based materal with an aluminum covering. It is a self-sticking sheet that is supposed to stick incredibly well to a clean surface. I decided to go with this product because it is thicker than most products, goes on easily, and won't come off. Most people say it doesn't smell bad at all and the smell it does have dissipates fairly quick. I think it is inexpensive for what you are getting when compared to the competition.

I bought two rolls (127 sq.ft.) with shipping for around $190. I bought mine from Rick who is very helpful on the car audio boards. His email address is raam@raamaudio.com.

Check this link for a discussion on RaamMat 60.

Hope this helps.

SuperDave:
I agree with you...if you want to buy the best of the best...get Cascade...it's as good as Dynamat without the extra price tag. Raammatt isn't to shabby either...and of course it all depends on how much you layer .
