So I blown my C5's! Now what?

So i've overpowered my JL Audio C5's, now i'm back to searching for new pair of speakers 6 1/2 for the front. I'm pushing 150 RMS, any recommendations?

You could go active this time around, and do it with high quality DIY speakers.

Or just go w/ the Massives I told you about a while ago.

Ahh that just leaves going active then. That, and properly setting everything up.

Its odd, I've never killed an active-setup speaker system yet.

I'm using a splash 300/2 to power only the front. I returned to the old thread to see your old recommendations. I was told to try the Beyma but the price is too expensive to buy at $180 EACH

Beyma is pro audio, no xmax and high fs.

what the hell would you want that for?

Also...how loud are you trying to play? Did the JL speakers fail due to bottoming out, was it a tweeter, or the woofer?

They bottomed out! I could run the amp to 75x4 so I might think about getting 2 6 1/2" midbass or midrange and a set of tweeters! Any opinions or thoughts of this?

If they bottom out, you need to adjust crossover point and/or seal the door like we talked about last time.

Crossover point should be around 80hz if playing balls out, and you can go lower if you are playing modest levels. BTW, you can easily save a few bucks here and run new mids with those tweeters that came in the JL stuff, if you liked them. Granted you need another 2 amp channels, but active is awesome.

I wouldn't go lower than 70-80 in a door

It'll twang and buzz like crazy regardless of deadener.

if he had processing, he coulda ran the tweets off hu power.

so..processing..or another amp

decisions...decisions...

My doors are sealed and I also have extra amps. It's hard for me to check at what points the crossover was set since I'm not good at DIY. I have $50 6x9 in the rear sounding better than my front stage. I need to find a reputable shop and some new speakers to replace the ones in the front
