Sirius SC-C1 HON-SC1 problem

I bought this combo about 2yrs ago and had it sitting on the self till just recently, needless to say any warranty has expired. Anyway, I decided to install it but it dosent seem to work.
Now I don't have a subscription as yet!
The install is pretty straight forward (non tech RDX '08) and once done I turn on the radio and see the word 'Sirius' on the screen, then it goes to 'connecting'.
It stays there for a bit and then it goes to channel 184 and shows 'No Tuner' on the screen. Ch 184 is the Sirius test (free) channel but I am not hearing anything!!
Sooo, I was wondering if there is something wrong with the SCC1 (tuner)?
AFAIK I should be hearing the test channel without a subscription right?

I just need to know if I have to get another SCC1 tuner.

Thanks

Hey, man. I just got done putting the SCC1 in my car. Without a subscription you should hear audio from channel 184-I did anyway. You are sure your antenna has a clear view of the sky?

Your other option would be to call Sirius and have them send an activation code to see if your system starts working after that.

If you set the tuner to channel 0, you should see the serial number of the tuner on the display.
