Sirius portable (pnp) install options...

so i want a pnp for the nice multi-line display. I know there's that kenwood fm modulator that's thin and would fit nicely in the cd cubby hole, but I don't want that.

The cubby hole looks like it's about 2.6-2.7" tall in the front and gets shorter as it goes further back. It's over 6 inches wide as well. It looks like the old Kenwood H2A would fit fine in there, but I'm not sure I want that either.

The Sportster looks like it's the shortest and could fit in there, but with the docking cradle, wouldn't that add at least half an inch?

If I can't get something to fit into that cubby hole, then i'll get a panavise mount and a jvc kt-s2000 since it seems the smallest and I'd prefer red to orange backlighting (XACT).

Any ideas here people? I wanna try and get this done today. I just got this car today, and I've been without Sirius for 4 days and starting to have withdrawl problems!

Does anyone know the dimensions of the cubby hole and also if it's the same size as the current (US) Accord? I know people have been able to fit the Sportster unit in the Accord cubby hole.

as i said.. i don't want that controller because it doesn't display as many characters, and doeesn't show artist and song at the same time.

I just went to bestbuy and got the jvc kt-sr2000 (the new gen 2.5 pnp unit)

waiting on my panavise vehicle specific mount now..

I had the clarion version of that kenwood controller in my previous car, it worked the same way.

It scrolled too, but having a constantly scrolling line of info is annoying and distracting, esp if it's scrolling an artist name and song name.

I am probably going to get Sirius because Howard Stern is moving to Sirius in about 14 months. I might wait until closer to that time though since I am sure there will be new hardware by then.

I believe Panavise as a ProFit bracket for phone mounts and such that would hold the Sirius JVC unit. Look here:

yeah, i ordered one of those before going to bestbuy to get the jvc kit, and I'll be using it.

I've also got the blitzsafe aux in adapter on the way.

To mount the antenna, i use a couple small neodinum magnets and a square of aluminum and stuck that to the rear seat fold release. This turned the key hole indent into a flat metal plate. Then i just stuck on the mini jvc antenna.

I get a full signal everywhere I go, even from the satellites (not just terestrial), and no antenna uglying up the outside!
