Should i get the Pioneer avic n-3
i work at best buy and i can get a nice discount on a flip screen dvd/cd/navi
they have the pioneer avic n-3 i was wondering if should get this, or is there a cheaper better alternative, it retails for almost 2 grand but i can get it for half off.
also, they have some d-1s but it is navigation?? on the best buy info card it said its only dvd/ca ill go check later to be sure.

The N3 is a good deck. And if you can get it for like a G, then that's a good deal. It's the cheapest unit with Navi/DVD/MP3. The D1 is pretty much the same thing except it is double din sized and doesn't have a built in DVD player. It does have two slots though. One for CD/mp3 discs and the other for the Navi Disc. The N3 only has one slot but has a memory function so you can take out Navi Disc after you enter your route.

I love the N3. The detail in the map screens seem to be much better than that in the Acura. I hooked up my Sat radio and Ipod into it and its a nice interface. Its a 30 second job to modify it to watch DVDs while you're driving. One thing I didn't realize is that without doing the mod you are locked out of certain Nav functions while the car is moving also. You can't search for locations. The mod fixed that too.

N3 has a good navi and isn't too hard to bypass to get the video in motion.
Go here for more info on the N3:

It depends, if you just want navigation - get a magellan or garmin gps. If you need all options (MP3, video, nav) and don't have a suburban then get it. I am trying to get an iPod interface and the bypass to use the nav system while driving.

i'd at least check out the exad jvc kd-nx5000. just had it installed at a local shop and I can watch dvd's while driving and i did not even ask for that. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the headunit itself or if the installers just hook it up like that.
by the way the dvd player is built in to the unit, no external dvd player.
it has built in navi, gps. on a hard disk. no need to throw in a cd
24 gigs of hard disk space for music.
you can play your music and use gps at the same time
bluetooth adapter for your cell phone allows you to speak into a mic and listen thru car speakers, also can retrieve text messages.
ton of features in addition to these, 3.5 inch screen, so if your looking for a double din then you may not want this but the lcd seems bigger than 3.5 when its installed in a car.
i'd at least check it out, this may be the best bang for the buck bargain out there and can be purchased for about $500
