Screen in Disk Tray area??

Has any one put a pop up screen in this area:

I want to leave my factory headunit intact how ever would like to add a screen that pops out from the tray (because the tray is useless and takes up space).

The screen unit doesn't need to have audio controlls and other BS....just a screen able to play DVDs. If it cant Navi would be a plus.

****PICS PLEASE*****

Thanks Alot

It looks hot...but way too much wood trim for me.

I noticed the factory headunit is set to CD 1-99 and the new head Unit is playing the radio station (Z 100). Does this mean every thing is know controlled by the aftermarket unit and the factory unit is rendered useless?

The factory headunit has a blitz adapter hooked up to it for auxiliary audio - so when you want to use the aftermarket headunit, you just hit the CD button twice and it pops into auxiliary. Factory headunit is 100% functional

I know back when the various forums were still seperate there was a tutorial on the CL side that showed how to do the screen like snook's step by step. I used to have the link but for some ignorant reason i deleated it. Maybe some of the CL guys remember what I was talking about

Nice install. The trim work and panel matching looks amazing!

I've finally (re)installed (been in and out for almost 2 years) my computer in the glove compartment yesterday and will be putting my Lilliput+slimline DVD flip system in the post-it note tray this weekend. I had to remove the screen from the housing and make my own case along with some linear slides and an actuator, but hopefully it'll be worth it.

It's just taken forever to devise a mechanism where my dash looks completely stock when the screen is retracted then pops out of the dash when I want to use it. I finally found a use for the "fake" button next to the console dimmer!

It's also the same reason I have my Sirius mounted up where the sunglass holder is and the antenna in the sunroof. Unless you're driving in my car you have no idea what I've installed.

I'll take tons of pics once it's finally done and maybe write up a DIY if anyone's interested.

Wow, that looks nice. I wanna do that for my car. I was wondering, what model of the dvd screen was that, and also, did you had to do any modifications to it inorder for the dvd screen to fit perfectly? Thanks.

I looked into doing this; the only 2 brands that I found make a 1/2" DIN were Pyle and Accele. I don't know about there quality.

Yup, you're eyes are not deceiving you - that's a full din size unit up there Anyway, the next one we do we'll definitely be using the Accele 1/2 din unit
