Satellite radio coming to Canada yet?

I know that our friends in the States have been enjoying a few years of satellite car radios service already. (from XM, Sirious, etc)...

Any Canadians out there knows if these companies are coming to Canada anytime soon? or, are there any companies out there that provides this service that I just don't know of?

I think the angle of the satellites makes it an ROI problem... i.e., you would need more satellites to hit a smaller market. They don't hit AK or HI for the same reason.

I think that HD radio is the big hope for Canada... where your local radio station broadcasts using High Definition digital technology. FM sounds like CD, AM sounds like FM today.

But our TSX's don't have it... urg.

Sirius radio

There is a lot of car sound system retailer that are selling XM and Sirius Radio equipement. And to be honest you just have to give an adress in United State and the system will work... I personnaly bought a Sirius system in manitoba that I still use back in Quebec. I drove all the way in the northern ontario back here and it works perfectly as long as you have a line of sight with the satellite. I believe that they designed the service to cover Canada as well so that if the CRTC accredit it it will work on canada market as well...

Bottom line, I have sirius in Canada and it works fine!

Actually, I think it's a gov. control issue, like their sat TV.

No I pay by the year... but I will see for next year... but remember that 500$ US is a lot of money anyway... Maybe by then, a canadian base satellite service will exist and play french music for instance... who kwows...
