Rockford Fosgate Amp Questions

Did a search for this topic here and on the net, didn't find any answers so...

I'm looking at the R-F 500x (for front/rears) and 300s (for sub)amps. According to the manual, the 500x has passthrough outputs for left and right. Does anyone know if this amp mixes the front and rear inputs (for each side) together for the passthrough out? ie. Does front left + rear left = left passthrough out?

Reason I'm asking is it would make it really easy to daisychain that output into the 300s to drive the subwoofer and would eliminate the need for a crossover.

Also, are these good amps compared to others in the same price range? I can get both of them new for $404 total from www.ikesound.com

Appreciate any input.

I thought the passthrough was to just make it easy to hook up a second amp. I think it does use front left and rear left as left pass.

I have a power 550x and 550s and the amps are awesome. The power is so damn clean. I have a friend with 4 new alpine v12 amps and the sound is about the same. By the way what kind of sub are u powering. I use to have a 400s and 300x and was pushing a type R 12 wit the 400s and it wasnt enough so I got a 500s for the Type R now I got the power 550s for a solobaric 12. and lovin it.

Find the # to rockford and call up there tech support they are really helpful.

Thanks for the reply... I posted the question to the R-F tech. help on their website. They wrote back and said in fact the passthrus are mixed (front+rear = passthru) to allow you to have a non-fading subwoofer.

I'm going to power a single Kicker S8L7 (8" square) sub w/ the 550s.... I know it's way overkill for one sub, but the 550S is the smallest "Power" amp they have. I looked at the Punch line, but the LP xover point is fixed, and I want some flexibility. Finally, I figured getting a "matching" 550x and 550s would be a good pair if I ever wanted to sell them.

Check out the other thread for details on the sub.
