TL: Replacing stock sub in 03 tl s-type
#2
It is definitely possible with some work. I put a 10" Kicker Comp VR --which is quite a bit deeper -- where the factory Bose was but it required a lot of modification. I believe the stock sub is 8". I had to take out the sub cover and high mount brake light because the sub sits a lot higher than factory. I used MDF board to mount the sub & dynamat to reduce rattling. It sounds great and its plenty of bass for my needs.
Here's all the aftermarket sub info you'll need:

that depends on what you're looking for and what your needs are. I thought it was well worth it since the stock sub isn't powerful enough for my taste and I wanted to save space in the trunk.
IMO, replacing stock sub & mounting in the same place is a great idea if you're willing to put in a bit of work.
