I need to replace my navi unit in my 2003 TL. I found one on Ebay that says it's from a 2000 TL. Seller says the screen unit fits a 2003 but doesn't comment on whether the trunk unit will fit, too. Does anybody know about compatibility between a 2000 unit and a 2003 car? Thanks for the help!

 

The screen and the trunk mounted unit are the same for the 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 TL model years. So the unit from a 2000 TL will work fine in your 2003 TL. (The 1999 TL uses the same screen also but the trunk mounted unit is hard drive based.)

Be cautious if the seller doesn't offer some sort of guarantee or return policy.

Thanks for the info. One more quick, probably ignorant, question:

I see that the Alpine part number in the DVD trunk unit found on ebay (they say it's a 2000 TL) is different from mine (2003 TL) and the ebay unit has something on the bottom where mine is flat; but the wire connections on back and the design in front are identical. Are these just variations that I shouldn't worry about and everything that matters will match?

I'm not sure about the part numbers but here's some additional information on what nav boxes will work:

Search for any of the following non-voice activated DVD units as a plug in replacement:

2000-2003 Acura TL or RL
2001-2003 Acura CL
2001-2002 Acura MDX
2000-2004 Honda Odyssey
2003-2005 Honda Pilot

Note the following id in part numbers will tell you what vehicle they came from: S0K=TL, RL=SZ3, CL=S3M, S3V=MDX, S0X=Ody, S9V=Pilot

So if that box was taken from a 2000 TL, it should work in your 2003 TL. (I suppose there's always a chance that the previous owner of that car had a non-working box installed.)
