Replacing Headunit

Alrite my factory unit is starting to take a crap. So I'm looking at buying something new. I was looking at this Pioneer 6 disc DVD player. 1st: what do you think about this unit? Worth the money and the harness that it comes with; is that all I need or do I need something else? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AVHP....html?tp=20217
2nd: I was checking out other threads about replacing the headunit & it possibly not sounding good with the Bose factory speakers. I don't have money to change the speakers right now (I want to eventually) how bad is this going to sound? I don't want to go a few months with my system sounding like garbage.
3rd: I have a sub box with 2 10's from my old car. If I install this with the new head unit and factory speakers; is it just going to make it worse? Should I just wait to replace the speakers and then install the subs along with them?

Sorry for all the questions. Just want to make sure I get this done the right way. Thanks in advance for your answers guys!

If your going to buy a new HU then definitly get new speakers. You can add any sub in your setup as long as your power it with a aftermarket amp.The only problem you will have is keeping your factory speakers, they will not sound good.Get your self 4 4ohm speakers with you new HU that handle a little more wrms than the HU puts out and you will sound good.If you want to sound great get a 4ch amp that puts out 75wrms and speakers that handle 100wrms when you get your new HU.As for your link,I didnt even check it.I thought crutchfeild was the shit about 15-20 yrs ago,but now a days there straight rip off. They charge too much for there stuff.

Thanks for the response. I know about adding the subs & changing the speakers and using amps and all....Wut I'm asking is that if I have to change the headunit before I can get to the speakers is it gona sound like garbage and I already have the subs...so if I add them along with the headunit before I change the speakers is that gona make it sound worse/better....and by the way I'm not buying from crutchfield. Buying from a local shop about 75 bucks cheaper.

what year is your CL?

i swapped my head unit for an Alpine 7" screen and am still using the OEM Bose speakers. it's not necessary to replace the bose speakers, but it will sound a lot better if you do buy a good component set.

right now with the bose speakers and alpine HU, it sounds ok, like a regular factory system. but when i have the sub turned up, i want more clarity and power which is why i went and bought components. if i have time, i plan to install them this weekend.

i also removed the factory bose amp when i swapped head units

01 CL-S

Now that's the response I was waiting for! Thanks!! Yea I have plans of buying a set of components probably like 2 or 3 months after I buy the headunit. Do you have subs connected right now without the components? Does it sound muffled when turned up? Where is the factory amp at in our cars? Thanks!

ya, i right now i do have a sub without the component set. the sound is good until i turn it up really high then it starts to distort like most factory systems, which is where the component set will help.

the factory amp is in the trunk

I just replaced my headunit with a Kenwood and the stock speakers sound like crap when turned up loud. I replaced with front components to compliment the 10 I already have in the trunk. They have so much more clarity than I'm used to. You will notice sounds you didn't before.
