Look into a small box woofer. Like a 10inch diamond audio d6. But if money was not a issues you can also get a 10 inch fiberglass on the side of the trunk.

well i dont really wanna overdo it- i guess i could case it in the spare tire area and port it? ....but back to the money issue that sub alone is quite costly - i'll just have Tweeter do it for me i guess

i've got a small sealed 10" and it fits really nicely near the pass-thru. I'd recommend that, if you are not going the fiberglass route

If you do an additional sub do you need an additional amp or can you run it from stock? Can I leave the stock hooked up or is it best to disconnect when you have a new sub in trunk?

the stock amp is pretty weak, so you would need an aftermarket amp.

how do you get the stock sub to work again after installing the HU???

i just learned that the 12s and amp i wanted to throw in my car are all busted up, and im strapped for cash, so id rather just do some rewiring.

can someone point me in a direction? do i have to run wires from the stock sub to the new aftermarket HU?

from an aftermarket head unit, you would need one that first has a pre-out preferably sub out. You need an aftermarket amplifier to get your factory sub going. A small basic 2 channel or monoblock and run that directly to the sub. There are no other ways or means of getting your factory sub going, this has been covered many many times.
