Replacing 2001 tl factory radio

If I replace the factroy radio with a pioneer AVH-P3200DVD can the volume controls on the steering wheel still be used?

According to crutchfield.com If the factory radio is replaced, the factory sub will no longer work. Is this true because its kind of hard to believe.

I know you are two posts in, but a search through the DIY/FAQ section would help you here. There is a way to use the factory sub with aftermarket heads, and it has been reported on and photos have been taken of the exact process.

One more question. If I bought the wire harnesses for both the sub and speakers will I be able to control the sub seperately? or would I need to go the route of the rca cables to do that?

The wiring harness does NOT work with the sub. In the DIY tutorials I mentioned before, you will see how it connects. Yes you use RCA's off the deck, so control is possible.

That's the expensive way, but sure.

Here's the free way: (and I have to tell you... it was in front of you the entire time you were on this site,...so next time do some searching and you'll be good to go)
