Replacement speakers question?
Replacement speakers question?
I am in the process of changing the speakers and amp in my CL.
So far the best and cheapest speakers I found so far are Infinity
Kappas, but I am not sure which model numbers I should go with.
My thoughts are:
Kappa 693.3(6x9) for the back
Kappa 60.3(6.5) for the front
ECLIPSE AMPLIFIER 32440 800w 4ch
Whould these model speakers and amp be the right choice?
Thanx for any responses!
2001 CL-S
All of the Comptech goodies
AEM CAI
V1
PIAA 19169
10'' Momo Sub, custom sealed box
Kenwood 600w amp

the type of speakers you put in really depends on what your ears like to hear. i felt the kappas' highs were too harsh....ear bleeding. so i ended up getting the reference series....tweeters are silk. also, the kappas might not fit the doors. well, they will but some minor adjustments might need to be made...like using spacers. same with the rears.....you might need to use some spacers to lift the speakers a little bit cuz they'll probably hit the bars in the trunk....depends on the size of the magnets of your speakers. not really sure about the kappa 6x9 and how deep they go and what the diameter of the magnets are.
Spacers
My Pioneers in he Rear needed Spacers. Had "issues" with Circuit City and them NOT securing the Crossovers in the DOOR, so Make sure if you change them out, they are secure, else they'll slide in the door wells.
Best Description I can give of the New Pioneers vs. old bose is: Stronger, Better Highs and Mids, Little better Base. Very Clear sounding, crisp. Still need a little more base, but I think I 'm going to put off the Basslink or 10 sub just for a little while.
Time to get out of Christmas Debt my Friends.
