Removing Engine Noise?????
How do you remove engine noise from you sub? I have my hooked up through my aftermarket amp, wired by tapping into the twisted pair going into the bose amp, the ground is close to the amp and about a foot long, and I never had engine noise coming from my same setup in another car. Any advice?

I used 2 10gauge wires for the power b/c I didnt have any larger so shouldnt that be substantial? By the way I am not using a LOC, I have tapped them. Could it be b/c of the crappy RCA connectors? Or maybe the twisted pair running speaker to amp isnt insulated well and it close to the power? If so how would I insulate a wire? Duct tape? j/k

I ran the power wire from the battery to the amp through the grommet and through the trim and to the amp.
Amp: PPI 4240
Rockford Fosgate 2channel (not in use) (overrated)
Sub: JBL 12' power series in custom box
Stinger wires on power and ground.
RCAs are radio shack solderless plugins with a 16 gauge wire tapped into the twisted pair going into the Bose amp and remote tapped into the blue wire (16gauge)
Thats about all of it.

You used 10 gauge wire for a 240W amp? Not a good idea man...bad bad idea...get at least 8 gauge. What do you mean your rockford amp isn't in use? Hopefully you used tap wires that were insulated. If not that's your problem most likely. You don't need to insulate the remote wire obviously...try replacing the tap wires though.

I just used some crappy 6 gauge wire from AutoZone. What kind of wire should I get? I used 2 10gauge wires twisted together for my power wire. That should be enough right? And I am using my PPI 4240 amp instead of my Rockford Fosgate 2 channel amp, until I run all speakers through my 2 amps. i will move the front and rear to my PPI 4 channel and hook the sub up to my 2 channel RF.

Sorry about that I meant I am using a 16 gauge wire on remote; I just bought a protected wire with 2 rca jacks on the end and a jack for a cd player. I cut the end off and tapped the RCAs into the twisted pair. I am using 2 10 gauge wires twisted together for the power and a 10gauge wire for the ground.
I found the problem for engine noise. When I tapped the twisted pair I cut some of the outer wires (silver) surrounding the 2 wires inside the brown sheath too thin, I suppose that made the wire unshielded from the power. So I took some of the shielding wire from the RCA wires and overlapped and conncected it with the existing wire in the twisted pair and that made the wire 'shielded' again. So there isnt anymore engine noise! I am quite relieved.
I dont know how understandable that is but I got rid of the engine noise.
Thanks
Kevin

Your setup isn't good, in that you have 2 10 gauge wires for your + and 1 for your ground. You have the same amount of current flowing through the + wires as the - wires...and so you should have the same gauge and amount of wire. Either use a bigger gauge for both, like a 4 gauge wire, or use another 10 gauge on the ground (though I don't see how you can have two 10 gauge wires hooked up to your amp).

Haha wow I don't understand what you did at all . But congrats.
