Remote Start Help

Winter is almost here in full swing, and I would like to get a remote start set up. I just want the most basic set up. I don't need an alarm. I simply want to turn the car on from inside my house, so that it can warm up before I go out to it in the thick of the winter. Does anybody have any recommendations for a cheap basic system that works? DIY instal diagrams? I have a 6MT.

i install viper products. the common unit we have here is the viper 4103 or viper 5101. both technically the same, but the remotes look different. no matter which unit you install urself or have someone install, you will need a bypass because of the immobilizer system in our car. these remote start units installed with parts range about $350-400. if your just getting the equipment and DIY, your spending about $150-200. dont go too cheap and get lower quality equipment. your will not be too happy when it doesnt work all the time good luck

stave... are you looking to have it integrated (i.e... using your OEM remote instead of having another pager) if so there are some units that will tie into the OEM alarm and just provide an autostart feature... downside is that the range sucks... and not sure if they have made it work for the MT yet...

if you would like full coverage, i would agree with boricua as to go with a quiality DEI product... (Viper, Python, Clifford, you can't go wrong)

Thanks for the replies. Do you guys have wiring diagrams so I can do this myself? When I was at Best Buy looking at these things, they told me that viper requires a $49.99 a year service fee. Does this seem right? If I did it myself, would I still be subject to this fee?

or you can get the same version remote start with remotes for under $80.00 dei valet 561r

Has anyone ever tried to bypass the immobilizer by attaching a spare key to the column inside the shroud near the ignition switch? I have a broken key and have tried mocking this up and it seems to work if you're looking to save some money.

I have the Viper 5301 that I picked up from my buddy. I just don't know if I want to find a way to install it myself or take it somewhere...
