Remote Car Starter

Does anybody have a recommendation of what the best remote car starter there is out there? I'm looking for one with the best range and remote should have a display that shows if doors are open etc... and I do not want a security system with it.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Why would you want a display telling you about open doors... and not get a security system?

Regardless, the units that do that are identical in terms of installation to a security system... but I am partial to Directed remote starts (Viper, Python, etc.)

Doesn't an alarm system void your warranty because the car already comes with an alarm system? That's why somebody on another board told me.

That's the only reason I didn't want to get it.

Thanks!

Go with the compustar 2WSS-S, it has up to a 6000 foot range. It's also a 2-way system which means it pages you and confirms that the car is running. I have the same system, but its the alarm and remote starter. It works great and Iv'e never had any problems with it.

compustar

mmm.....my frd told me he can do some mod on the OEM stock remote for engine startering ... but have to sacrify a buttom other than panic to engine start .... but really no one would change the trunk buttom to engine start haha .. ~~ and i hate those aftermarket's remote's looks .. they looks cheap .. ~~
Maybe a engine start buttom beside the VSC is cool ~

Adding an alarm does NOT void your warranty!
That would actually be a violation of federal law.

Actually, Directed makes a remote start that connects to the unlock button and when you unlock with the remote three times in a row, it starts! No mods needed. 552T. A friend put one on an Excursion - worked fine.
