remote alarm installers for mt in DC area?

I've called around to quite a few shops in the northern va region and have asked about a remote start installation on a 6sp tsx, but they have all told me that they will NOT do it on a manual transmission. I've seen from other posts that there are some that have the remote start. For those that have had it done on mt, did you install yourself, or did you have it done professionally. I am looking at the viper 2 way responder with new alarm system as well as the remote start. I don't consider myself technically inclined enough to try and do an alarm install. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

cheers

I would not try it yourself if you have never installed an alarm system. My friend and I did mine. Not hard, but very time consuming. I have that same system also

There are sysems that are designed to give you extra safety with MTs. I'd recommend one of them instead of the Viper. Why take unneeded risks?

There's no right way to do something stupid. Longtime Directed tech support staffer.

Personally, I wouldn't do it at all.

But if you ARE going to do it, find a system (like the Compustar) with MT in mind.

I've never installed a Compustar, so I can't recommend it personally. Some people have said good things. (But some people say good things about anything...)

I am assuming too... I've never done one. But I've heard that they have some sort of safety system... they could include a position switch, or they could depend on a pedal sequence prior to shutdown, and a clutch switch wire connection.

But I can't speak authoritatively to that, s I've never used or installed one, or read anything from their mfr. I can tell you that most cars don't have factory MT position switches for all gears, so RS mfr's don't expect them in the car.

Having watched a Tacoma pull through the e-brake and hit a garage after its remote start was tripped in gear, I'm confident that there's a safety issue.
