Recommend Component Sets

I'm looking for a component set of speakers, replacing all my interior, domes, doors, and 6x9's. I'm looking for recommendations. What brands do you prefer, also what brands to stay away from. Specific models help too. Thanks

One set to consider is the replacement kit offered by elduderino (our AZine Official Vendor)

Those are a nice set, a little too expensive for my taste. Other brands that people stand by would be helpful. I do like the sound of duderino's kit too though.

In that case it might be good to spec what the amp is, power, etc., and what subs if any you are running... it helps in making everything match up.

and our kit is optimized for the OEM amp - with a bigger better amp you have many more options.

You gonna tell us what else you have?

I like a/d/s/, DLS, Dynaudio, Morel, Alpine X-type but nothing cheaper, and my avincar speakers (I don't carry all of those, btw).

Others here will tell you that Infinity is the shit, or MB Quart, or Focal, or Boston, or Diamond.

Maybe if you tell us more about what you have for gear, and about what you like, and what you listen to, it will help the opinions you receive be more valuable to you - that's all.

There seems to be two types of people on this forum when it comes to speakers: those who listen to budget components and those who listen to the best sounding components regardless of price. Unfortunately for my wallet, I am one of the latter ones. "Audiophilia Nervosa" is a well known disease where you are willing to spend more and more money on better and better components. It has taken me years and years (with countless speakers owned and auditioned) to figure out what I like. I like (love!) Dynaudio: I have a set of Dynaudio System 240 GT components driven actively by a JL 300/4. It has all the audiophile abilities: it images likes crazy, the soundstage is appropriate to the source (the better the recording, the better the soundstage) vertically, horizontally and depth wise, it goes loud and deep (for a midbass), vocals are right on, and highs are smooth, silky (yes, it has an oversized silk dome for its tweeter) and extended. After two years, it is now not enough: I NEED a Dynaudio System 340, because it is better sounding than the System 240 GT. When I trade in my present TSX in November, I will remove my System 240 GT and turn it into a System 340 GT with the addition of a MD 140/2 per side. That is unless Elduderino can somehow fit in the 8" MW 170 into a TSX door (are you listening Eld?) because then I will have to have the System 360. If you can afford it, listen to some real high end components (all close to, or over $1G) and listen to what can be heard in a car. If you reasonably will not be able afford some serious high end any time soon, save yourself and don't listen to the high end, because once you do, you may not be able to go back to reality. Most of all, take all of our likes/dislikes with a grain of salt realizing that each of us has his/her own likes and dislikes. Yours may differ (and probably will...). Go listen to as many speakers as you can and enjoy the trip. jps

p.s. Now if Eld can come up with some way to put a Dynaudio System 240 Esotar in a set of kickpanels in a TSX... hmmm.

jpswanberg just curious where you have your current Dynaudio setup mounted?

I have the Dynaudio System 340 in a Civic and Im looking to transfer everything over to the TSX. Im praying I can keep the MD 140s somewhere. The 7" Dyn fit into the stock Civic speaker door opening with some MDF rings and still cleared the windows. Im pretty sure this can be done on the TSX as well.

Im just not sure where to mount the tweeters. Kickpanels are the awnser, but the hood release lever on the drivers side is problematic. I havent really looked into the car and the kickpanels, so Im not sure how the fitting and angle would be. Elduderino hopefully has thought of a audiophile solution for speaker placement by now?

i have the dynaudios mounted coax style in the doors and time aligned using ny alpine 9833, the 240 gt's baskets are smaller (6 3/4") instead of 7" for the regular mw 160's.

Ok, I have a pioneer headunit, 2 power accoustic 600 watt amps for subs, 2 x 750 watt dvc audiopipe 12's, and a 3 farrad cap. And I'm looking to replace my components, and get an amp for my mids and highs.

Ive got Seas Lotus which I have yet to install, but they are more then your looking to spend. I think Eld summed up the choices especially if your not looking to spend lots of money. You could also look into CDT's.

OK, so you don't have the amp yet, and you have a pair of 12"s. Cool.

SO what's your budget for the amp and the speakers?

I will mention that I'd rather get GOOD F comps and a good amp than lower-end F and R speaks and a lower-end 4-channel amp.

Ok, I've decided to get one monoblock D level amp for my subs, and use my A level 600 watt amp for my highs. I am thinking about a set of blaupunkt components, because I want a cheap, but good quality set. What does anyone think about them?
