Rear Deck Rattling... Subs in Trunk? Anyone?
I would like to get some feedback to see if anyone is having the same problem I am after installing subs in their trunk. Basically the sound is awesome with a window or 2 cracked (air flowing) but when all windows are up I get this pretty strong rattling on the rear deck. Has anyone had this problem and could you tell me what was a good fix? I know dynamat would work but I would have to remove the entire deck and thats a bit much, any comments?
Also I have recently removed my 6x9's and left the open holes to allow for the sound to come in form the trunk (ports) ... best idea I have had. Increased base output tremendously and if subs are faced towards the back of the trunk it creates awesome bass response!

Try using some foam (like the kind used in gun cases - buy at a hobby store) and cut 2" squares. Take these squares an place them between the pressboard rear deck and the metal pieces of the rear deck. Don't skimp, use plenty. I had good success with this in my son's '97 CL. Let us know how it works. Much cheaper that Dynamat.
