Question Rear Deck 2005 TSX 6x9"s

WHat is the OEM amp really doing with these?
THD Frequency power?
Please.

I called Pioneer OEM they said call Acura.
Acura said well just replace the 6x9's and it should improve the and then I asked again what are the specificationsons and the amps output to the 6x9's and well just change it better 6x9's and then I asked again what are the specification for the 6x9's and he said change the 6x9's with better 6x9"s and then I wanted to ask him if he was listening to me.
Kill me!

No one knows, except a Japanese engineer in Pioneer's OEM division, who you will never, ever meet or talk to.

The OEM amp uses ICs that are rated at 18w pc at probably like 5-10% THD when used in a head unit. THD is kinda hard to hear, especially in the bass. You can hear intermodulation distortion a lot more readily, and this amp is probably dripping with negative feedback and the resulting IM. In the bass region, the various distortions would go up and the output would decrease, because these ICs usually can't play all the way down to 20 Hz with a flat freq response.

What is the (xover) frequency, Kenneth? No one knows. I have the gear to test it, but I didn't really care that much - and I'd need a working OEM system to test it now, and I don't have one (I replaced my amp). You can't change it anyway, it's an electronic filter with a single op-amp on the xover board in the amp. They sum the R channels to mono to save on one op amp, then run them two-channel from 1/2 of one of the 18 x 4 ICs. The xover board is all surface mount. Technically possible but for that amount of work you could have a real amp.

As far as the speakers go, in answer to your earlier message, no, the sound is not all due to the crossover. It's some due to that, and much due to the driver, and much due to the install, and so on.
