The 6x9's in the back only get low freq. sound. Basically they are acting like cheap subs. So, if you crank the bass and put it to the rear, that's all you'll hear.

Basically the arrangement goes like this:

Front tweeters (dash) = high freq. only
All four door speakers (6.5" round) = full range
Rear (6x9 one-ways) = low freq. only.

Unplug the rears and sit and listen wih your controls set flat, then plug them up again. You will hear an audible difference.

What's your bass set at? Your backseat passengers are probably asking you to turn it down because they don't like the bass rattling their skulls. I bet if you turn the bass to -1 or -2 they will be able to better enjoy the music that is coming from the speakers at their feet as opposed to the thumping of the bass behind their heads.

Is the kind of music you listen to naturally heavy on the bass?

I have my bass set at -1 and treble at 0. Do you find the sound too bright at +2?

listen to a wide selection of music...some are...but i'd have to say that most are not.

i find that this combination sounds about right. if i set the treble at 0, it sounds a little too flat.
