really basic audio question

so, after my car died last night (read about it in first gen discussion) and i popped my hood, my friend saw my power wire hook up. he said you're not supposed to crimp power wires directly to the positive terminal, but use a special adapter or some shit. personally, i think he;s full of shit, but has anyone heard of any adapter like this? thanks

Well, actually there is an device to monitor and shut down your system if the voltage drops below a preset thredhold. Check www.crutchfield.com for details. However, I wouldnt put one in my system since the wire is smaller than the rest of my power wires thus restricts the current flow since it sits right up front.

Yep, he's full of shit. You don't have to at all. I usually just use an eyering and screw it through...except for high power applications where I usually attach some sort of block to the whole thing...but I rarely do that.
