Rattling??
Rattling??
Hey guy's, im fairly a newbie. I am about to install 2 12 inch subs in my trunk. I wanted to know how the tl's trunk responds to bass. Is there a lot of rattling or is there a serious need for dynamat? I know that different cars trunks responds to subs diferrently. Also, did you keep your stock sub hooked up? Will that rattle?? Help please
Most sedan trunks rattle a lot...I think the TL would not be an exception. You will need to do a bit of sound deadening to compensate. Another option is to install subs on the rear deck.
If you add subs in the trunk, then you should open up a path for the sound waves to vent into the cabin.
For this reason, you should absolutely remove the stock sub. Also - if you didn't remove the stock sub, the pressure in the trunk caused by your aftermarket subs (when played loudly) would probably distort the stock sub.

I removed the stock sub for sure and have Dynamat all over the damn car...but on the outside the trunk sounds like its going to explode when I blast the music...sounds kinda ghetto - so I turn it down in town. But, inside the sound is very crisp and clean - no rattles at all.
