CL: Which Radios Will/Won't Fit?
Which Radios Will/Won't Fit?
Hi all. I am new and decided to join since soon I should be getting a 1999 3.0CL. I was thinking of putting in a new head unit so that I could have navigation so that I won't get lost (getting this car pretty much as soon as I get my license). I was thinking of putting in something like the Pioneer AVIC-710BT (was going to just get a Garmin, but my dad, used to install car audio, said I should get get a full nav head unit since it would be better integration). Should this fit if I take out the stock radio and storage compartment below it? I'm not really considering replacing the speakers since they are already Bose branded. There is some kind of kit to keep use of the steering wheel audio controls, right (as soon as I get them fixed lol)? Already finding a lot of info on here. Thanks for any help!
Check out Crutchfield for a fitment guide on the hu's. They also have the steering wheel controls adapter so you can keep those.
Another thing you should consider is the factory amp. I've heard that you'll have to bypass it in the 1st gen CL. I didn't do it, because I don't have one in my car, and I replaced all of my speakers. Check out the 1st Gen section in the n00b guide, I'm pretty sure it's in there.
