Doesn't the retained accessory power circuit feature power the radio and power windows after the key is turned off, UNTIL a door is opened? (Or until the timer runs out?)

In other words, I think you had this feature the whole time : )

This same thing happened to me the other day with my stock headunit. I found out it had something todo with the inverter I had plugged into the cig lighter outlet. As soon as I took it out the radio shut down normally. Now today with the inverter plugged in everything shuts down normally with no problem.... weird huh?

that is it!! i just put an invertor in my console this weekend. never thought that that would be the case. but now yours is working fine with it plugged in? weird. i'll unplug it and see if the radio shuts down normally. thanks for the help. thought my car liked the bass and wanted to finish off the song before it went to sleep.

If that's it, the inverter has a large capacitor on the input that is backfeeding into the car, and it doesn't have a large internal diode to prevent that from happening.

You could insert a large diode or diodes in parallel into the power wire for the inverter to prevent that from happening - what's the current rating of the inverter? How many amps does it draw?

This inverter is made out of ethylene glycol? (Never mind...: )

Sounds like a POS inverter to me. SHouldn't do that.

Everything in the car should KNOW the instant that key turns off. ECU's, alarms, everything.
