radio question

What's up all? First let me say that I'm new to the CL life. I just traded in my 98 lude for an 01 CL-S about 3 weeks ago. This car is AMAZING!! Love everything about it. Ok that being said, on to the question. I want to swap out the stock radio with an Alpine headunit I bought last year, but I can't seem to find a mounting kit anywhere. Not Tweeter, Best Buy or Circuit City carry them. Does anyone know where I can get one. Or for those of you that have put a single-DIN radio in, what did you do with all the extra space? Did you custom build something? Any help would be appreciated.

Depending upon what alpine headunit your talking about but I think the metra mounting kit would help you out on that. The model number is 997868. Almost forgot you can get this mounting kit at Crutchfields for $19.99 hope that helps.

^^ Metra kit 99-7868. Everyone should be able to get it, but might not be in their catalog and sometimes they have to call in for it.

I had to call Crutchfield to place my order for the mounting kit and wire harness.. Not sure if they're listed now on the site but they do carry them..

Remember though, when you wire it, you'll have to either bypass the Bose amp or tap into it...it's better just to bypass it IMHO.

Why do I have to bypass it? Can't I just keep it inline to add a little extra power?
