Lightbulb Radar detector Install

HI guys,
I'm going to get a Passport 8500 (I don't want to start a debate here about the V1 and the 8500) and i'm getting the directwire kit, w/out the smartcord (to much work for me to install), but i was wondering where you guys got the power from? What fuse did you tap off or if you did something else. I'd like to hear some suggestions.

thanks

Any ignition-switched circuit will work, such as the radio's main power(not memory lead) or the 12 volt power outlets. That way when the car is off, your detector will be off as well. Don't forget to fuse your detector as well. I'm not sure what comes with the Passport because I have a Valentine, but I would think they would supply the proper fuse with it. Good Luck.
