Questions about Dom's unit...

I recently purchased the PNP unit from Dom for my 07 TL. Yesterday I took it to a shop in downtown Philly and the owner quoted me a price of $350 saying that he still had to remove to dashboard and do some splicing. Is he blowing smoke or is this true? My only concern is that I spent and extra $100 just to get PNP and now he telling he still has to do splicing... should I seek a second opinion? By the way the $350 included installing Dom's unit, a DVD player, a RF modulator and installing that as well.

1) If you bought a PNP harness, just do it yourself! Plug and play. Oh, it plugs into the navi at the back of the car, not in the dash.

2) Don't use an RF modulator, just get something like the usa spec and use a true aux in. You'll thank yourself for it later.

That's what I was thinking but he showed me the 3 wires that came with the harness and said he still had to do some splicing. Could you tell me what those wires are and what they connect to?

The wires are for power, ground, and reverse. All can be had from your trunk as well. Take power and ground from the navi, and give it a reverse signal by tapping your trunk reverse light.

Yes, they do require splicing, but of the easiest kind. You could even use T-Taps just fine.
