How do you remove the ski pass-through door???

There is a metal bar that runs through the bottom of the black plastic piece itself. You have to do it from in the trunk. I can't remember if I needed to take the seat out or not. Just need something thin and solid to tap it out with.

 

So it's relatively easy? The way it looks is that something must come off of the metal bar before it can be tapped out. The bar and hinge are the same diameter. Do you remember anything else needed to be done?
